Peter Searle
Peter Searle had keratoconus in both eyes and was legally blind prior to his first transplant in 1996 in his left eye. His right cornea was transplanted in 1999. Since then, he has been an active supporter of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank.
Searle was part of a news story promoting eye donation on Fox 31 news a number of years ago. During the taping of that story, he had the opportunity to meet one of his donor’s family members. In a dramatic twist, it turned out that he knew his donor’s daughter. They had worked together through projects with the Denver Chamber of Commerce. That had a big impact on Searle that he will never forget.
In 2008, Searle wrote a children’s book, The Road to the Bananas, and dedicated it to the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank and his donors and their families.
